Martin: “How long have you been living on the streets?”
Fabian: “A year. I came from Phoenix so all together two years.”
M: “You were homeless in Phoenix too?”
F: “Yeah”
M: “What brought you to life on the street?”
F: “Just wanted to experience life. That’s how it is. And it’s an everyday struggle. We wake up in the morning, where you gonna go eat at, where you gonna go take a shower at? But by the grace of God, he’s been providing for me. I gotta give him praise and glory. I gotta give the man above praise and glory. He’s been by my side.”
M: “So you’re religious?”
F: “Yeah. I got my two little bibles with me in my backpack.”
M: “Are you looking for a job?”
F: “I sort of enjoy the fresh air instead of working. Last I worked at Sonic for thirteen years, at fast food. Before that I worked at McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, you name ‘em, Arby’s, Hardee’s, Golden Corral, I was the head baker at Golden Corral.”
M: “And you burned out?”
F: “Yeah I burnt out. I’d get to the point sometimes that I wanna give up on life. But I just look up and I just see them angels and Jesus and they say keep going forward, don’t turn back, why turn back? There is nothing in the back. Move forward.” .
