What We're Hearing: E1027 Today

An icon of 20th-century modernist architecture, E1027 on the Côte d’Azur was the first architectural work of designer Eileen Gray.

A lecture by Professor Tim Benton will address the presentation of the house-museum E1027, in particular the conservation issues surrounding it. The furniture, both fixed and mobile, as well as the fixtures and decorative schemes, were an integral part of Gray’s cohesive design and are particularly pertinent to the debates surrounding the villa’s restoration – how perfect should the interior reconstructions be, at what cost, and at what risk of damage?
