Traveling grants the pilgrim a very distinct kind of knowledge. It is, what I could most liken to, my understanding of wisdom. Traveling is an active process of wisdom. After my education I came to realize that knowledge gained from a university -a knowledge of raw, sterile, intelligence- lacks this wisdom. While equally important, a book savvy mind still needs this travel and experience of otherness to truly become a well rounded mind. A balanced mind is one that holds both a wisdom through experience and an intelligence through lesson. This is why traveling is so important.
Unfortunately, travel is restricted to so many. Traveling is a privilege that demands both time and money, and so is rarely enjoyed in large dose. I feel thankful for the gift of travel, one I don't treat lightly. And hope by sharing experience through photography, that an ounce of this wisdom can be taken from it.
