The finishing meters of yesterday's thrilling #amgentocwomen TTT victory by @teamtwenty16. Team leader Kristin Armstrong said the key to victory was patience and preparation:
“Patience, from the beginning. The time gained at the beginning is going to be time lost at the end if you aren’t patient,” Armstrong said of the team’s team time trial camp before the Amgen Tour of California. “We wanted to make sure our team was smooth before we started going really fast, so the couple of km was just to be together as a team, rotate together as a team, and then really kick it after that first climb.”
“We knew the course. We came out here early to study the course,” she said. “We looked at the different sections, and we knew as a team which riders were a little bit more confident on different sections.”
