When I saw my little cat for the first time, I remember his sickly, little runt body cuddled up like a tiny bird trying to keep warm. I decided then, to name him Piaf [french for "little sparrow"]. Whether or not you think my weird, hairless kitty cat is cute or not, he is my world. I see him in everything around me really - maybe because he looks like a cross between a bat, chicken, frog, monkey, and a cat. Or maybe it's because everything IS a lot like Piaf... I mean, I've cuddled with a cow, a pig, a chicken, countless dogs, hairy cats, and a ton of other animals in my short life time -- aside from shape and size, there really wasn't a difference. All animals are capable of feeling.
Today, after a long piano-practice, I stepped outside and saw this little guy faced down in my garden. I'm not sure how he died.
Although I know, dying is a big part of living, I couldn't help but feel a bit sad holding this little birds body in my hand before burying him. Some people would just see a nameless bird, I'm sure. But all I can see is my little Piaf.
