There’s only one week left to visit “Encountering Vishnu: The Lion Avatar in Indian Temple Drama.” Closing June 5, the exhibition presents works in bronze, sandstone, and wood, as well as miniature paintings, lithographic devotional prints, and early photography, all of which illuminate the theme of Vishnu’s divine appearances. In this chromolithographic print, Vishnu is accompanied by his wives Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, who ride his celestial mount, the mythical man-bird Garuda, depicted in full avian form.
