Photo by @jorisvanalphen: "Only three centimeters in size, this beautiful porcelain crab is sheltering between the tentacles of a Mertens' carpet sea anemone. Like anemonefish, it has a special trick to keep safe from the poisonous sting of its host.

A sea anemone has tiny poisonous darts all over its tentacles that fire on touch. To avoid stinging itself with all those tentacles bumping into each other in the current, it wears a coat of mucus that sends a message: this is me, don’t sting! Animals like this porcelain crab have found a way to exploit that. They too wear a coat of mucus that prevents them from getting stung. And hiding between the poisonous tentacles, they are safe from predators.
