The Montagu's harrier is one of Europe's most endangered birds of prey and all but disappeared from the Netherlands in the ‘90s after the loss of heath- and boglands to intensive agriculture. Thanks to the efforts of the Montagu’s Harrier Foundation and sympathetic farmers, the species has made a slow recovery, though its numbers still hover between 30 to 50 breeding pairs." #birds #naturephotography
