#GoshkaMacuga's "Death of Marxism, Women of All Lands Unite" was inspired by Czech artist Miroslav Tichý, known for taking thousands of voyeuristic images of women who were unaware that they were being watched. The tapestry differs from Macuga's other works in that it incorporates a live performance in which two women, wearing nude bodysuits, recline on the tapestry as if having a picnic, reading books and making conversation with one another. This live element accentuates our discomfort in viewing Tichý's unsuspecting female subjects, as it makes us aware of the vulnerability of the performers, who are likewise subjected to the viewer's gaze. See the performance Thursdays, 7 to 9 pm, and Saturdays & Sundays, 2 to 5 pm.
