Ok, I’m changing it up a little this week. I heard about this compassionate young woman and wanted to share her story with all of you. After seeing the same homeless people in her neighborhood, nine year old Khloe Thompson would often ask her mother “how” or “why” did they get there? Her mother spoke honestly with her and after their talk, Khloe's first instinct was to help. Khloe began sewing bags with her great-grandmother and packing them with necessities like soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products and then passed them out to homeless women in Southern California. She chose to sew bags because she wanted these women to have something beautiful and strong to carry their things in; she didn’t want them to have to depend on plastic bags. This remarkable young woman not only gives these women the items to care for themselves, but she reminds them that they are important, reminds them of their dignity and that they are her community. I am moved by this young woman’s giving heart, her respect for others and her “let’s do it” attitude! For that Khloe Thompson is my pick for #WPW (Wonderful People Wednesday)
