In the 1990s, the British architect Norman Foster restored the Reichstag, Germany’s 1894 parliament building, which was wrecked in World War II. The large glass dome at the very top has a 360-degree view of the surrounding Berlin cityscape and symbolizes transparency. A large sun shield electronically tracks the sun’s movement and blocks direct sunlight.
