#OTD 1769, Josiah Wedgwood (founder of the #Wedgwood company) completed this vase. He perfected black basalt wares, and this piece showcases the neoclassical themes that were popular at the time. Available in our 7 July Exceptional Sale, the vase has an unbroken provenance, and descended in the Wedgwood family to the present owner.
