Our latest giraffe calf kicks up the cuteness, but the watchtowers of Africa are in trouble. #Giraffe have become extinct in 7 African countries, and their total population has dropped 40% over the last 20 years. San Diego Zoo Global has been working closely with world-class collaborators on community-based programs to save the tallest land animal. Additionally, we are supporting and assisting with an impromptu community giraffe orphanage, caring for young giraffes that have lost their parents to poaching, or in other ways.
