Doch an dieser Stelle würde ich gerne ein paar Worte richten, an all die Leute, die uns Tag für Tag unterstützen, die uns immer den Rücken freihalten, immer hinter unserem Land stehen, an unsere Landsleute. Ich weiß, dass ihr enttäuscht seid. Aber glaubt uns, wir sind es umso mehr. Wir haben lange auf dieses Turnier hingearbeitet. Jeder Einzelne. Im Team und ums Team herum. Alle.
Wir sind gemeinsam mit Euch einen langen Weg gegangen, Spiel für Spiel durch die Qualifikation. Wir haben gemeinsam mit Euch die Europameisterschaft erreicht. Aber irgendwie hat es nicht sein sollen. Wir wollten mehr erreichen. Der Schock sitzt tief. Wir haben alles gegeben für Euch. Ihr habt alles gegeben für uns. Für jeden einzelnen von uns ist es immer eine Ehre für unser Land spielen zu dürfen.

Wir werden nun alle erstmal das Turnier verarbeiten und dann Schritt für Schritt wieder auf das nächste schauen - mit der Einstellung, immer alles für Euch zu geben! #da27

But at this point, I’d like to say something and address all people supporting us everyday. Everyone who covers our back, standing behind our country - our fellow countrymen. I know you’re disappointed - and believe us, so are we. We worked so hard for this tournament, each and everyone of us. The team itself and everyone around the team. Everyone.

We have come a long way together with you, from the first until the last game of the qualification. We reached the EURO with you. But somehow it wasn’t meant to be. We wanted more. The shock runs deep. We gave it all we had for you, you gave it all you had for us. To each and everyone of us it’s a huge honor to play for his country.

For now we have to deal with the situation and slowly begin to prepare for the next tournament. Always with the attitude to leave it all on the pitch for you!
