Here's what I show people when they say "You changed". Let me tell you this, this image was taken 5 years ago and was the 3rd or 4th article on Kayture ever posted. Let me tell you also this, I hate labels. Labels are a way of boxing our creative expression and limiting ourselves. I don't believe in labelling, in genre, in format. I believe in freedom, in passion, in following our hearts, our instincs and letting our guts guide us. I began sharing content when I was 17, my taste is forever evolving and even though I went through a very macaron filled, polished look phase, I sadly will say this right now : I completely grew out of it and you won't see that coming back again.
I feel more like myself than ever. Because I care less about the numbers of likes I'll get under one picture of a plate of berries than an editorial I've put a lot of artistic effort and thinking into, trying to tell a story and express something I've been feeling. Because to me the work of photographers like Steven Klein or Helmut Newton will last forever as they challenge our thinking, they provoke our vision with the unexpected, the controversial.
Chock mostly leads to introspection. This could never compare to a widely approved and Instagram acclaimed picture of my Chanel espadrilles with a box of Ladurée macarons... We are living in an era of emancipation, sexual, social, proffessional, emancipation. What's wrong with embracing that?
It's not because I have a fashion blog that I consider myself as a fashion blogger and only that... The only reason why I did Kayture was to talk about things I felt passionate about, like a diary. I consider myself to be a pretty creative person and I like to create different things, whether it comes in the form of a picture, of a styling, of a make-up, of a text, of a song... of anything. I am against diminishing anyone's creative impulses or refrain from pushing certains limits to stay in the box that has been created for them to sit in. Instead, let's play around a bit, break the rules and be a little more adventurous, open minded and fresh spirited. Because you might discover things about yourself that you didn't know along the way... Peace x
