Regram from @TheWCS: As we head into #SharkWeek, we want to emphasize #FactsNotFear. Awe, not ire. Inspiration from our water-bound neighbors. Conservationists from @TheWCS’s Wildlife Crimes Unit worked with Indonesian authorities on an 18-month long investigation into the trade of live marine megafauna. We discovered two whale sharks, a protected species in Indonesia and listed as endangered by IUCN, were captured and being held illegally in submerged pens in Eastern Indonesia. Thanks to the dedication of the Indonesian government and WCU, these incredible sharks were released back into the wild, unharmed.
