#OnThisDay in 2009, over 80,000 people gathered at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu to meet Real Madrid's newest star, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese winger, wearing the No9 jersey once worn by the Madrid great Alfredo di Stefano, was greeted rapturously by the packed stadium. Supporters had been queuing outside the Bernabéu for much of the day in order to gain access to the brief ceremony.
