It is always too soon to mourn another black life lost to police violence, and it's always too late for their families and loved ones. Today, we mourn the loss of Philando Divall Castile. He was a father until his dying breath and a cafeteria worker who hugged an autistic child every day. He leaves behind a four year old who bore witness to his last moments. He was shot after being pulled over for a broken tail light.
We praise his girlfriend Diamond "Lavish" Reynolds, who also stood by him as he took his last breath and forced the world to take notice, through Facebook Live. Philando's life mattered. He would have been 33 in 9 days.
