This decorated miniature sewing machine was a wedding present to Mrs. Tom Thumb.
She had THE celebrity wedding of 1863, attended by over 7,000 people, including congressmen, generals, and New York elites. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thumb, Charles Stratton and Mercy Lavinia Warren Bump, both of whom were less than three feet tall, greeted guests while standing on top of a grand piano.
