Today is Bastille Day - the French National Day commemorating the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, when ordinary citizens voiced that they would no longer accept the absolute power of the king. It signaled the start of the French Revolution, which eventually led to a new republican government.

Celebrations are held throughout France with the oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe being held on the Champs-Élysées in Paris every year #Bastilleday
