Photo @pedromcbride // The underwater perspective: A Pacific bluefin tuna, glides past onlookers at the Monterey Aquariam. This 1200 pound fish is capable of swimming at speeds of 12 to 18 miles per hour (20-30 km per hour) for brief periods. It spawn off of Okinawa; between Taiwan and the Philippines; and migrates over 6,000 nautical miles (11,112 km) to the eastern Pacific, eventually returning to their birth waters to spawn. Today it is endangered with some reports saying its population have dropped by 97%.
