? "Underneath the arches / I dream my dreams away...." A new vinyl recording from Gilbert & George, out now on MoMA/MoMA PS1 Records, revisits their well-known work "The Singing Sculpture" (1969), in which they stood on a table, wearing metallic paint, singing "Underneath the Arches," a Depression-era standard about the pleasures of sleeping rough. #GilbertandGeorge were inspired to create the work upon discovering a recording of the song in a secondhand store in London and identifying with its resilient protagonists. On this album, "The Thoughts of Gilbert & George," the artists revisit "The Singing Sculpture" and welcome listeners into their archives and studio. The record, a signed and numbered edition of 2,000, is available exclusively at MoMA stores and online at store.moma.org through September, when it will go into wider release.
