The photo session for the cover of the #Beatles#AbbeyRoad’ album took place on the crosswalk outside Abbey Road studios on this day in 1969. Photographer Iain McMillan balanced on a step-ladder in the middle of the road and took six shots of John, Ringo, Paul and George walking across the street. The band then returned to the studio and recorded overdubs on “The End,” “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” and “Oh! Darling.” #Lennon, #McCartney and Harrison reputedly sang more three-part harmony here than on any other Beatles album. ‘Let It Be’ was the group’s final release, but this album was its real goodbye.
