My mom has been a singer and a songwriter all my life but by the time I was five she had already experienced the exhaustion that is the music industry. When I was a year old(1994)she wrote this song and in 1996 with her income tax check she made some cassettes to give/sell while performing in the Cotton Club. She went by "Shayla" and one night she met someone from R. Kelly's camp that thought she was really good. They created a rapport and she would give him cassettes of the songs she would work on. After a little while of that and no word back about making music with them she just kept pressing forward. A year later she heard R. Kelly's Changing Faces song "G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T" on the radio with the same concept that her song had. Quickly the out poor of calls came in from my mothers music peers saying "They stole your song!" (CONT'D) ....
