Can a digital volcano save physical lives? Armed with over eighty sensors and the power of #Predix, #GE and @Sam_Cossman are helping bring Nicaragua’s Masaya Volcano online. This expedition to the “Mouth of Hell" is the first of its kind. Across GE, we have the knowledge, expertise, technology and software to analyze and activate big data from some of the world’s most extreme environments – from jet engines to gas turbines. Now, we’re using that expertise on an active #volcano to monitor CO2 levels, temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, gravity and other factors crucial to predicting volcanic activity.
