Yusra Mardini, a competitive swimmer, survived a harrowing sea crossing a year ago while escaping the war in #Syria. Now she is among 10 athletes competing on the Refugee #Olympic Team in #Rio.

Mardini won her preliminary heat in the 100-meter butterfly Saturday, but the result wasn't enough to advance her to the semifinals.

However, we’ll see her again when she competes in a second individual event Wednesday in the women's 100-meter freestyle.
