Today is #WorldLionDay, a day to celebrate these phenomenal cats and let people know the plight that they are in. @dereckjoubert and I have been working with them for the past 35 years. We've seen their glories and their losses. We've also seen their numbers decline rapidly. We've lost 90% of lions in the last 75 years. Today only about 20 000 remain across Africa. Through the Big Cats Initiative we are funding big cat conservation projects around the world and have seen some great ideas and advances in saving these iconic animals. There is still a very long way to go but we will keep on going because we cannot lose the great roar of a lion reverberating across the African savannah. We would lose so much of our soul. #worldlionday2016 #causeanuproar
