This morning I shared a light easy yoga series on Periscope (go watch the replay) that I do sometimes either to relax or, like today, when I'm not doing my full practice but I want to release the body before travel. And I was overwhelmed with a ton of creepy comments. Between strange sexual requests to the blanket statement "this is not yoga". While the lewd comments are annoying (and they were worse than usual today on this time zone), you never know when someone has a change of heart and gets inspired to live a more peaceful life. I'm pretty good at ignoring the random sleazy stuff, but the comments about yoga sometimes get to me. So, to all the yogis out there, ask yourself this: what really is yoga? Is it a practice defined by doing the poses in one particular way? Or is yoga perhaps a spiritual quest to the center of yourself, a path that leads to the eternal within? Sometimes the practice will take the form of intensive discipline and sometimes it will be light and easy. Before we judge what is and isn't yoga, maybe we need to check ourselves. The essence of a yogi for me is to be humble, to kind, to live with a spirit balanced between strength and compassion, to patient and tolerant, to share love with the world. ? . Be brave enough to share your weaknesses. Make no pretense of strength where you have none. Open yourself up to receive and you will find that in the moment you admit that you need help, you will be lifted up. Expose the raw truth of your unedited self. Leave nothing to hide, tucked away in a dark corner of the mind. See clearly through the mirror of life reflected back at you in your actions, thoughts and deeds. You are who you choose to be. There is beauty in surrender and faith in adversity. These are some of the gifts of the practice. Peace is yours if only you decide to search for it. Every day is fresh, beginning anew. What do you choose today? ⚡️ . #ibelieveinlove ? . Shorts @omstarsapparel Photo by @tiagophotofilm
