....til this moment I've always referenced Gladwell's #10000 hour theory (& his books) to younger upstarts & parents of kids who always ask me for "industry advice" (10,000 hours of practice= genius). Welp lemme add #MikeBirbiglia's #DontThinkTwice to the required education file. For those dreaming. For those Slaving Away thankless hours at their craft. For those thirsty. For those about to give up. For the delusional. For those stuck with those in delusional denial. For those that feel some sort of way about the last line I wrote. For those with Survivors Guilt. For those who sabotage a golden moment. For those who can't leave the home nest. For those who failed and try again. For those who try once & stop for fee of failing. Be you entertainer. Or professional. Slacker or work nazi. I recommend seeing this movie harder than if Prince & Dill came from the heavens above playing me joints is if they were 1999. I didn't see this expecting a hard life lesson (lol bawled in #TheWrestler one of the most unlikely movies that hit home----I didn't know if I was watching my dad's story...or my own) I'm a big Birbiglia fan (#SleepwalkWithMe is great too) but as a member of The Roots, as a member of The Thompson Family, as an employee of the 30rock empire, as a fly on the wall at the Comedy Cellar watching experiments & craft & envy & awe & struggle & practice in motion---I say see it. That 99% Rotten Tomato rating was well justified in my opinion.
