Waking up to sunrise this morning, naked, outside this desert trailer park I am in heaven this ol desert where I raised my kids I look around and see the ghost of my mom and remember the shuffleboard motels when I was a kid walking the desert avoiding jumping cacti and ol rabid dogs I remember my mother's heat stroke laying out in the sun too long and her doctor pepper hands and we are quintessentially American whatever that means trash with stale alcohol bottles holding an orange light and turquoise trailers in the distance and ocotillo silhouettes and hear it roosters crowing and hear it dogs barking at 5:30am this is paradise to me/us and the story technicolors and there's a bathtub sitting outside that we will fill today and bask in, again naked, because we don't give a social fuck out here we care for each other and I know this because I grew up here where God magic reigns and there ain't no ATMs anywhere but one on its side, the first one, that died a long time ago and was thrown out of some truck, still moving, dusty, on a washboard road, cigarette burning in its rusty ashtray, a cowboy hat slightly askew, thick fingers, and a blonde in the passengers seat, springs poking behind her thigh, slightly painfully. #goodmorning #americanlife #desert #stucktogether #inlove #??
