One year before the millennium, Mercedes-AMG took the automotive scene by surprise with an absolutely monumental engine. The M120 was a new V12 featuring four-valve technology, a 60-degree cylinder angle, and was based on the 7.0-liter V12 of the SL 70 AMG. By implementing a new crankshaft, the output rose from 365 to 387 kW (496 to 525 HP), this gave the SL 73 AMG a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.8 seconds.
