Making one off parts for every build is like falling down a rabbit hole. That is after you gain all the needed knowledge and skill to even tackle those kind of projects. It's a constant struggle to do things perfect and try to limit the hours to what you think the customer would pay. At the end of the day it was alway a struggle to make payroll and keep the lights on. Did I mention we never did any service work? The upside of being the owner is you don't have to pay yourself overtime if you work a lot of extra hours. Hell you don't have to get paid at all. Honest fact I have never got a paycheck from my shop ever. Maybe that helped it last? I dunno.
So I guess the moral of this story is if you want to be a bike builder and be on tv and a internet hero? My advice is don't do it. If you you do do it? Build bikes part time and do plugs and oil full time.
