Academy Award winning actor and producer #MichealDouglas was in NYC for President Obamas speech to the @UnitedNations for the opening of the UN general assembly.
Since Mr. Douglas's designation as a Messenger of Peace in 1998, he has been fiercely committed to disarmament issues, including nuclear non-proliferation and has spoken out for greater controls on the illegal possession and circulation of small arms and light weapons.
His involvement began in nuclear related issues began in 1979 following the release of the #ChinaSyndrome, which he stared in with #JaneFonda. It dealt with the coverup of an accident at a nuclear power plant. The movie was followed shortly by the real life disaster at the #ThreeMileIsland power plant in Pennsylvania.
