Happy Autumnal equinox to our friends in the Northern hemisphere, and happy Spring equinox to those in the South!
The Earth's axial tilt is approximately 23.4 degrees in relation to its path around the sun.
During the March and September equinoxes, the tilt of the Earth's axis aligns perpendicular to the sun, unlike the rest of the year where either hemisphere is titled slightly towards the sun.
This makes the two equinoxes a special time, where day and night are almost equal.
Equinox is from the Latin "aequinoctium", "Aequus" having the meaning of equal, and "nox" that of night.
