Photograph by @christianziegler This is a freshly laid clutch of 4 cassowary eggs in the tropical forest of Queensland, Australia. About every second day, the female comes and lays another egg. This nest will grow to 6 eggs in the end. They are an amazing color– electric green! The father then takes care of the nest and incubates the eggs for almost 2 full moths. After the chicks hatch he tends to them until they are about 10 months old. @ナショナルジオグラフィック @natgeocreative @thephotosociety #rainforest #conservation #queensland #conservation
