Guillermo del Toro discovered Eyvind Earle through Earle’s contributions to many of the animated films made by Walt Disney Productions in the 1950s. Del Toro later became a devotee of Earle’s personal work, which primarily consists of moody yet disciplined landscapes recalling early inspirations such as Rockwell Kent (1882–1971) and Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986). A career retrospective and centennial celebration of the artist Eyvind Earle is on view at Forest Lawn – Glendale – Museum.
