On this day last year, the Harlem Arts Alliance declared October 20th as Lupita Nyong'o day in Harlem, NY. I'm still humbled by this extraordinary honor and have so much love and admiration for the Harlem community. Today is also National Heroes Day in Kenya, which celebrates those who fought for Kenya's independence. Our Kenyan ancestors struggled for the freedom I now enjoy everyday, and without them my life would be a lot less dynamic. Thank you, thank you, thank you. #Mashujaa #LNDayHarlem
