Dans Le Noir. When we walked into the lit part of the restaurant, we were prompted to choose meat, fish, vegetarian or chef's special. We happened upon some open menus and took a peek, not knowing that surprise was a critical element of the experience. We weren't terribly concerned, but the bartender seemed to be so. I'll get back to that later...
We were escorted to a holding room where you're led by one of the servers, all of whom are completely blind, to your seat. It isn't simply dining in the dark; it's as if the proprietors have special access to Ron Weasley's Peruvian Darkening Powder. Our eyes never adjusted to the darkness. An American girl sat down and requested any time-travelers be seated next to her. None made themselves known. The waiter, ours was the fabulous Mr.Carl, then served our beverages and all courses. When we checked out, they unexpectedly comped our wine because they were disappointed that someone had left a menu open and risk compromising our time. We experienced a host of unexpected emotions - a truly life-affirming and wonderful evening. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
