I ? covenant house. What a selfless place it is. Last night I slept outside with a piece of cardboard and a sleeping bag in a back alley. It was cold, lonely, and scary. I couldn't help but feel guilty as I laid there in a down filled jacket knowing I would go home to my cozy bed in the morning. I tried to think, what if this was every day? What if you didn't have the warm jackets and the security around making you feel safe? This is what many homeless youth experience and it breaks my heart. Next time you pass someone on the street, don't throw a dollar their way. Let them know there's a place to go, and that people care and maybe give them a warm meal. I've learned that most homeless youth feel more safe on the street than in their own home due to abuse or addiction. Last night I really missed having Shawn by my side for this, but I woke up grateful that I have someone like Shawn. Grateful that he was out there stuck in Connecticut showing his support by sleeping on his buddies driveway because that's what it's about. Thank you babe for being you, and thanks to Al and Coop for battling the cold out there with him. Take a moment today and appreciate what you have.
