Still doesn't feel real that this happened just over a week ago. That I get to go into editing soon. That I get to actually finish something I took part in nearly every aspect of.
This short, and the opportunities of this year in particular, represent a lot of things for me. It's more than just an expression of my love of horror and scifi (as believe me, I'll keep expressing that!), but also the first year where people allowed me to be me again. Just me. To be seen, not as some kid who looked like her father but would disappointingly never be him or fill the gaping hole left in his wake, but instead as a woman that reminded them of him, but was never trying to take his place.
They let me do what I love; some again, like the wonderful folks at Dead of Summer, and some, like the people who put faith in me directing and writing this project, for the very first time.
And for that I'm eternally grateful.
Can't wait for you all to see the short version of Zero, and hopefully someday soon, the feature to follow it.
