In the triathlon world, fans know these British brothers simply by their first names. Alistair and Jonny. Or their last name. The Brownlee Brothers. Either way, the two natives of Yorkshire are the undisputed stars of ITU draft-legal triathlon.
They charged to a 1-2 finish this summer in Rio with Alistair winning gold and Jonny silver (At London in 2012, Alistair won gold and Jonny bronze). The two also made global headlines in September at the ITU World Series finale in Mexico with a dramatic demonstration of brotherhood. Alistair threw his arm around a disoriented and depleted Jonny less than a kilometer from the finish and guided his brother through those agonizing final meters before Jonny collapsed across the finish line. We sat down with Alistair and Jonny Brownlee recently in London (where they took part in the Zipp 454 NSW product launch) to talk about all of this and more.
