Le candidat à la présidence, Alexandre Van der Bellen, ancien dirigeant du parti des Verts autrichiens, avec ses supporters, dimanche 4 décembre 2016, après l'annonce des premiers résultats officiels de l'élection présidentielle autrichienne, à Vienne. L'avance semble trop importante pour que la victoire lui échappe.
Son score marque une nette progression après les 50,3 % des voix obtenus lors du scrutin initial, le 22 mai. Ce résultat avait été annulé en raison d’irrégularités procédurales, à la suite d’un recours du FPÖ. Le résultat officiel ne sera toutefois proclamé que lundi, une fois que le vote par correspondance des Autrichiens vivant à l’étranger sera dépouillé.
