Takeover by @noah_postwar - Here's a fearsome detail from Robert Arneson’s epic work on paper, "Colonel Nuke Pricked" from 1984. Comprised of acrylic paint, oil stick and collaged photographs of war scenes, the titular Colonel’s grimacing face twists in demented rage. A large nail pierces his Pinocchio nose, upon which is scrawled MAN YOUR POSITION and NUKE DOES IT BETTER. Known primarily for his work in sculpture, particularly his humorous self-portraits, Colonel Nuke Pricked is a terrific example of Arneson’s impressive range. Consigned from the estate of legendary art dealer Allan Frumkin and featured in the artist’s 1986 retrospective at the Hirshhorn Museum, Colonel Nuke Pricked is one of many outstanding artworks on offer as part of our wonderful First Open auction! #FirstOpen #arneson
