“I first saw the car parked in the main street of Ballarat back in 1975. We waited around for ages to see who owned it. It turned out to be the local mechanic. He knew I had my sights set on it but it wasn’t until I got the call a year later that he said the Toyota Corona RT104 GT could be mine if I got my act together and found $4000. I raised the money over the weekend, sold a whole lot of stuff, sold $2k of stereo gear and put the money on the car first thing Monday morning. This was back in 1976.
