Prolonged droughts in the Valley have caused extreme weather conditions, damaging crops due to lack of rainfall and absence of moisture in the air. In a recent article posted in cropinsuranceinamerica.org, Doug Benik, a farmer and crop insurance agent explains, “The lack of moisture in the air allows air temperatures to get much colder in the winter and much hotter in the summer.” Due to the much colder temperatures, farmers use different methods for protecting their crops from frostbite, such as covering them with bags. #everydayclimatechange #actonclimate #California #CentralValley #crops #climatechange
