I remember walking into Electric Lady, Jimi Hendrix's studio downtown New York, and Seven & Irv playing the beat for me.. I looked at them like WTF am I supposed to do with this beat? I can't write to this! And in true form as usual they both FORCED me to sit and write it.. I was used to writing midtempo heartfelt records...so this was definitely a challenge/change for me...I think it took me about 2 hours to write it...
