SMASH! in 77 #SaturdayNightFever phenom hit (note: THIS album made #MJ lose sleep) ---the #OpenSesame chord changes wasn't disco drivel. this was CLASSIC. In 79 #Chicago jock #SteveDahl, sensing a threat to his way of life & tradition (sound familiar?) organizes a #DiscoSucks demolition. who knew so many americans secretly (sound familiar??) shared this "fear" of music "invading" their life (sound familiar???) a riot literally broke out ruinin the game & ruining trust. feel familiar y'all? It was challenging to navigate --but there was safe ground in the 80s. The Gang started a 5 yr nonstop run of hits from 80-85. it was "poppy" but it won. everyone loves a winner....right?f

the former #ChubbyAndTheTurnpikes were 5 soul cape verde bros from the yaaad in Baaastin by 70s they rechristened the family name/business to Tavares. it was hard to pinpoint their sound: they hit w #ShesGone before #HallAndOates got a chance on black radio. but then they dabbled in rock w #FreeRide (#DanHartman is the #BroWhisperer writin all these jawns like he grew up on fish n grits lol)----disco came calling w #HeavenMustBeMissingAnAngel & #MoreThanAWoman. the latter appearing on that same soundtrack threatening to typecast them but they managed to make some early 80s noise. this appearance was to promote the #LeonSylvers BANGER #DeeperInLove (shoulda been bigger). but above all? quality episode. @@@@
