Day/Principle 3 Ujima (oo-JEE-mah) Collective Work & Responsibility: "To build and maintain our community together and to make our Brother's and sister's problems, our problems and to solve them together." When it comes to a profound responsibly such as raising children, the saying goes, "It takes a village". My village is strong. My friends Kirsten and Stephen have made it part of their Ujima to help tutor Evan in math and I am beyond grateful. It was fitting that on this 3rd day of Kwanzaa, Evan had a tutoring session with Stephen, so I snuck a photo. The other side of Ujima is recognizing your challenges and having the strength to confront those challenges and ask for help from others. I couldn't be prouder of Evan for being honest, humble and willing to seek guidance when needed. It's fun to celebrate our victories, but more important to make a commitment to assume responsibility for strengthening our weaknesses. So proud of my young Kings effort and resilience. You will succeed Evan, you're brilliant. Let's all be a village for each other. Ujima on 3... 1-2-3-UJIMA!
