This week we're mourning the loss of two members of a family that helped shape American entertainment in the 20th century, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

Fisher's fierce, independent portrayal of Princess Leia was an inspiration to generations of young women, and she was also a highly-respected script doctor and outspoken advocate for mental health awareness.

Reynolds had a long career in film, theater, and television, and spoke eloquently about the need to preserve entertainment history, building a large and important collection of motion picture props, costumes, and ephemera.
