“I am always trying to make images of something that’s real. And, if you live in New York City, which is a place where people walk a lot, and it’s raining and muddy, your [feet] will get covered in mud and dirt. It’s a real thing. It’s the other side of glamour—a side that doesn’t have a lot of representation, but that is still very real. That side is a true thing in my life, and one that other people recognize in their lives.
